Stasis and the Innocent Dream

The world through my looking glass,
Never looked as dazzling.

A furtive glance
Into the alley,
A pair of darting eyes,
Heavily measured breathing,
A whispered,
Almost hushed sigh.

Never as dazzling,
My life in the balance.

Crystal ball clairvoyance,
Still holding me in stead.
For years, and years,
It walked me by,
We walked
Hand in hand.

Driven to the point
Of speculative delirium,
Swung from one extreme to the next,
With blinding mercurial charm
At that.

Time but melts now
Into space and matter,
Time stands forever still.

Nuts, bolts,
Tattered ten-point instruction guides.

My life, static,
Prospect, dim,
Conflict, rife.

I will live,
But see the world
Through my looking glass.
